From Hollywood to Dana Point
In 1926, Sidney Woodruff designed the development plan for Dana Point,
the Harbor Area, and the Headlands.
Included in this design was a lighthouse on the Headlands overlooking
the Harbor and the Pacific Ocean.
Woodruff had previously developed HOLLYWOODLAND. After completion, the
"land" was removed from his advertising sign leaving Los Angeles with
its famous landmark.
The Lighthouse was never built and the Headlands was never developed due
to the Stock Market Crash, the Depression, World War II, and a series of
legal battles.
